Godzilla can never die: Godzilla: Kessen Kidou Zoushoku Toshi

Heyo, it’s time for me to be here again…

The 2nd movie, picking off where we left from the first. This movie’s runtime is 100 minutes, slightly longer than the first movie.

The storyline is at its climax stage, so I placed my expectations slightly higher.

The pacing did pick up quite a bit, the 100minutes is using wisely, making use of all the amount of time they had. Storyline also becomes more technical and a lot of science talk is going on. But it didn’t bog down the story and make things become a snorefest.

One of the biggest plot twist is near the ending with the aliens and their bonkers dedication to kill Godzilla. I find it rather disturbing, but its Urobutcher’s style so I was not surprised. What I wish this story had was probably more action, because 3/4 is constant talking and searching for stuff. But we still have one more movie in November, so I will leave it to that.

Animations and music are still kept the same, so nothing much to report on that.

The cast list did get expanded. notably Ozawa Ari and Ueda Reina. They sounded pretty alike to be honest, which reflects to the fact that they are twins.

Score:

Story: 8/10

VAs: 9/10

Pretty much for the sake of completing this trilogy, you need watch the movie. Hopefully King Ghidorah is coming to fight Godzilla.

Sorry that this review is kind of short, there is really nothing much to say about the movie, but it’s a great follow-up with the first movie.

Now I wait till November for the final movie…

  1. I have yet to see the sequel (maybe can see it tomorrow) but I already heard it was a little bit less interesting than the first one. Oh well, as you say we still have another movie to go. Great post! 😊
