20k All Time Views Special: Pure Romance

Hey all, I finally reached 20k views, time for some celebration.

This time, I’m going to list my 5 picks for shows that are pretty much pure romance, with little to none fanservice. As usual, no rankings.

5. White Album 2

Review and depression here.

This one has to be part of the list, a cheerful looking high school romance that slowing twisted into something very dark. I absolutely love this to bits, but never tried to rewatch it ever again. The romance here is very lighthearted and heartwarming, but when the revelations starts to escalate, shit happens.

4. Nagi no Asukara

Review here. Reflection here.

This one totally threw me off. Started off slow, but slowly escalated as a romance and then twisted it into one of the most depressing shows I have ever watched. I am never watching this ever again. Romance here feels pretty touching, I love it a lot, but the dark twist just… destroys me.

3. Kimi ni Todoke

Review here.

One of the MOST SLOWEST developing story I have ever seen. Manga took 80+ chapters for a kiss, anime took 3 cours and nothing happens. The romance sometimes non-existent, but its pretty sweet if you have the patience. My review includes the live-action movie, in my honest opinion, the live-action is a lot better because there is ACTUAL development.

2. Koe no Katachi

Manga v Movie here. Review here.

This is one of my best movies so far. Kimi no Na Wa can move aside, let KyoAni show you how to tell a good love story without fanservice. I relate quite a lot in the movie that I nearly cried. Romance isn’t really much but I would say its there, just hiding under some kind of guilt. I highly recommend you guys to watch it if you haven’t, because I don’t see why Kimi no Na Wa should stay #1 in MAL.

1. Tsuki ga Kirei.

Ongoing series. So far this show has been pretty much progressing well for me. I have waited for this kind of show for a freaking long time, Kimi ni Todoke was too draggy, Koe no Katachi was too short and inconclusive, this one hits the spot perfectly. I love it to bits. The romance isn’t really centered on the main characters, the side characters does get a decent amount of attention too.

Well, hopefully my picks will enlighten you in some way. Tomorrow maybe I will do a 5k views for the year special…

  1. Congratulations!
Having known that Saekano’s creator writes animation storyboard for White Album 2, if the former doesn’t please me by the end of its second season then I know where to look. ^_^

  2. Congratulations! Oh my gosh I remember screaming when they finally kissed in Kimi no Todoke, and that confession scene was like over 7 pages of her breathing and her heart beating =_=”
