Heyah, finally finished this show in a heartbeat. It was fun.
Origin from manga. 16 volumes and still ongoing. Anime aired for 24eps with an OVA. The show is splitted to S1 and S2 and the OVA sits in-between.
For a shoujo-demographic show, I expected quite a lot of cheesy stuff. But it’s different, its actually very sweet. S1 is a really plain ride because the both of them are still in their familiarisation stage and there are a lot of cute awkward moments. They are pretty light on the cringe but most of the time giggling to myself about how cute it is. The story moves on slowly but it never really bores me, and a lot of times where its the traditional “Prince saves the Princess themes” but the execution was cute. Character development is slightly stagnant too. S2 picked up the pace with Zen finally making a move on Shirayuki making things a lot more fluffy and fuzzy. S2 has more adventures too. The fanservice is little to none so it doesn’t disrupt the actual plot. S2 ending is a bit bitter for me because I don’t want to see the series end like this, ITS NOT A HAPPILY EVER AFTER ENDING YET!!! OVA which sits in between the 2 seasons shows some cute interactions between the two and also Mitsuhide and Kiki. I honestly ship Mitsuhide and Kiki from the bottom of my heart. Overall, its a very hidden gem of shoujo shows.
Animations by Bones. Character designs were pretty well done. Backgrounds, colors are pretty decent too. I like it.
Music is decent. OP and ED were ok. BGMs were sweet.
The cast is a pretty long nice list. Hayami Saori, Osaka Ryota, Umehara Yuichiro, Nazuka Kaori, Okamoto Nobuhiko, Sanpei Yuko, Ishida Akira, Kaida Yuko, Saito Chiwa, Uchida Yuma, Yonaga Tsubasa, Park Romi, Fukuyama Jun, Minase Inori, Komatsu Mikako, Konishi Katsuyuki, Toyonaga Toshiyuki, Asanuma Shintaro, Saiga Mitsuki, Mizuki Nana. All of them were well done. Picking Hayami Saori for Shirayuki is a very good choice to be honest. Osaka Ryota and her chemistry were great.
Score: S1 | S2
Story: 8/10 | 8.5/10
Music : 8/10
Recommended for all Shoujo lovers. This adaptation is just great.
