Ecchi and Ayakashi that cannot even blend: Omamori Himari

Hey hey hey~ Back to proper reviews after such a long time.

Manga origin, 13 volumes completed. Anime ran for only a mere 12 eps. Short and never did leave an impression.

The story already kicked off hinting severe random ecchi moments. It does have quite a serious backstory but it was never the main point of the show at all. It was so mediocre that it became extremely ecchi and dry. 12eps felt like a sloppy number with such a story planned out. The climax wasn’t really a climax, everything about the show is pretty much flatline. Character development is stagnant, really. Nothing happens, it’s like Nisekoi all over again. Overall, this show never left an impression, even with 12 eps, it felt like something that just comes and goes.

Animations by Zexcs. Its considered one of their major works, but all I see is weak colors and upscaled stuff. At 720p it still feels like a 480p upscale. This quality is unacceptable for 2010 standards and the character designs is horrible compared to the manga, Himari is so much cuter in the manga and they tried to make her look seductive in the anime, which they still failed. Its kinda like Gonzo animating Rosario.

Music is ok. OP was nice, ED is ok, BGMs could have been better.

VAs is a good list. Hirakawa Daisuke, Koshimizu Ami, Nomizu Iori, Shindo Kei, Ogame Asuka, Matsuoka Yuki, Mizuhara Kaoru, Kikuchi Masami, Honda Mariko, Takahashi Chiaki, Suzuki Tatsuhisa, Fujiwara Keiji. Nice cast, well done, but wasted on such a show.

Score

Story: 6.5/10

Art: 6/10

Music: 7/10

VAs: 8/10

Watch at your own risk, even the fanservice feels shitty.
