Silent Yuri: Sasameki Koto

sasamekikoto

Good afternoon, one of my backlogs completed. Even tho its Yuri in nature but I delayed the completion for almost a year, yes… Im guilty.

Originated from a manga. Lasted for 4 years in 9 volumes. Anime ran for 13 eps in 2009.

Storyline is a slow calm ride. Comedy does come in but the calm nature makes the comedy feel less… active. It feels like as if im watching this show just for the Yuri, nothing else. Yuri is pretty legit here, not as exposed as Sakura Trick but not as low as Yuru Yuri. The show managed to keep it undercover but you can still feel the Yuri atmosphere. The 13ep count was just right, wasnt fast, but can be a bit slow at times, and also because of its lacking of escalation in plotlines, people who has very low patience will most probably cannot handle the pacing. The ending was pretty much going nowhere, but not surprised, judging how serious the Yuri is in this show. Overall, it was fun, but not for all, at least for me, because of its genre, demographics and pacing.

Animations by AIC, and I have to say I was impressed. The quality is excellent for a 2009 anime, character designs were pretty well done. Backgrounds were decent and colors were well-utilized.

Music is a no-no. It just makes the whole show EVEN more slow and calm. Even the lively BGMs didnt help.

VAs is a list of pretty awesome people. Takamoto Megumi, Takagaki Ayahi, Kato Emiri, Harada Hitomi, Saito Chiwa, Taketatsu Ayana, Hayami Saori, Hatano Wataru, Shimizu Ayaka, Makiguchi Mayuki. Shimizu Ayaka is SO unsuitable to voice Masaki, ITS TOO FEMININE, its like she’s not even trying to sound like a guy, even Harada Hitomi did a better job, its better if they swap roles instead.

Score:

Story: 7/10

Art: 8/10

Music: 5/10

VAs: 8/10

Yuri level: 7/10

Recommended? Depends on you, if you like slow, calm and patience-testing Yuri show for a change. As for me, I love this show, not a lot tho, its decent, its unique, but wasnt as striking and bold as Sakura Trick.
