The fallen Heroine: Heroine Shikkaku

Good evening! This is my first live action review, but not my first time watching a live action movie.

Original material from a shojo manga, that lasted for exactly 3 years. 2010-2013. The movie came on Sept 2015, better late than never. Might be one of my most favourite live action so far. Spoilers ahead due to overwhelming quality.

Storyline is pretty smooth. Introduction felt damn one-sided as the MC called herself a heroine of her own love story and shes so full of herself, thinking that everything will go according to plan. Her “lethal” weapon is that they are childhood friends. Her friend did warned her if she doesnt make a move anytime soon, her hero will be stolen, and as expected she didnt listen to the warning and regretted severely. What this movie has that others rarely have is that they add quite a lot of elements that only anime can pull off, like stoning, icing, expressions that only anime can express, this boosted the comedy A LOT.

Then another guy comes in, and wow, he’s damn cute for a guy, you can rarely see guys that who can eyesmile so perfectly. Everything was pretty smooth and they make up the lack of plot twists by adding more action comedy than usual.

The 2nd half of the movie felt pretty sweet as the heroine managed to move on in life, give up her childhood friend and chose the other guy instead.

I was hoping this movie could end like this but slowly the story took a bad turn with the horrible ending. The heroine ended up going back to her childhood friend, UGH I ABSOLUTELY HATE THE ENDING. The other guy shouldnt have suffered, and he experienced something I also experienced previously. The overall is nice, just the ending being too rushed, too anticlimatic and too empty.

Rita (the childhood friend guy) is seriously irritating and absolutely insensitive, omg, Im so pissed. He really makes me wonder why Hatori (the childhood friend girl) always liked him…

Music was pretty nicely composed. Nishino Kana for the theme song, it was really nice.

The cast list felt pretty nice. Kiritani Mirei, Yamazaki Kento, Sakaguchi Kentaro, Wagatsuma Miwako. They even asked Nakao Akira, Yanagisawa Shingo, and Rokkaku Seiji as cameo, boosted a lot of comedy elements. Kiritani Mirei was the right choice, she’s damn cute.

Here’s the PV, you will laugh.

Score:

Story: 8/10

Music: 8/10

Cast: 7.5/10

Watched this for like 2 times, because i cannot get over the comedy and the hate for Rita and the ending.

  1. I didn’t finish reading this manga. Got pissed with the MC and Rita, grr! But i might be picking this up soon coz it’s not really something i can’t tolerate. Might as well watch the live action afterwards too. 🙂

  2. Lol forgot to comment on this. The Rita hate is universal~~~ haha. And the heroine isn’t very likeable too, so perhaps she’s better off with Rita. Or at least, I think that’s what the mangaka intended to convey. 😄
