A bit of an overkill: A Channel

Good afternoon~ I didnt slack off during my 18 day hiatus, i was still watching stuff. Time for some Loli.

Originated from a manga, 6 volumes and still ongoing. Anime lasted for 12 eps with 2OVAs.

Storyline is pretty much slice of life, but the characters personalities and setting makes it entertaining and prevents viewers from getting bored. There will always be new gags around the corners, they tend to pull off jokes you might expect but they boosted the comedic elements dramatically making it so funny, i had to pause. 12 eps that doesnt feel short nor long, its just right. Gotta give credits to the director, excellent job as he did quite a horrible job directing Mahouka. The ending gave it a good wrap-up but was surprised by the addition of 2 more OVA eps. The OVA has new characters and also somewhat continue what the anime had left off. OVA does bring some laughs but isnt quite as good as the anime.

Artwork is done by, surprisingly, Studio Gokumi, this is the part i meant by being an overkill. The quality is this show is just damn good, very surprised at Studio Gokumi, since their portfolio seemed normal for me… The one is like first in quality before Nakaimo. But Kawaisou is still first place, Brain’s Base dedicated more time and effort on that one. One thing i realize is that the frames are pretty inconsistent, some scenes you get overly smooth with Shaft-like unneeded movements, it tends to get pretty irritating and also reflect that they only concentrate on their effort like 30% of the time. The OVA’s art was changed a bit and the quality dropped a bit but i think its negligible. Character design is also pretty good, all of them are pretty cute.

Music is pretty decent, OP for both the TV and OVA are nice, but the ED isnt really good, at least for me, i dont really like it, or maybe i cant feel it.

The VAs list is pretty legit. Yuki Aoi, Fukuhara Kaori, Kotobuki Minako, Uchiyama Yumi, Iguchi Yuka, Chihara Minori, Ono Daisuke, Sawashiro Miyuki… All of them did their job well, no problems, but Aoi’s voice is definitely new to me, didnt know she can voice like this.

Score

Story: 8/10 (TV), 7.5/10 (OVA)

Art: 9/10 (TV), 8.5/10 (OVA)

Music: 8/10 (TV), 7.5/10 (OVA)

VAs: 9/10

Highly recommended. Comedy? Checked. Quality? Checked. Lolis? Checked. What else do you need from this? Nothing else, its pretty well done.

  3. Hey, it`s Chrissy.C thanks for your time on our WordPress! We appreciate it MirrorPurple!

Ah “A-Channel” really adorable character designs. Very much.

It does indeed look like a funny experience, MirrorPurple.

The artwork & animation seem solid. However, I appreciate your acknowledgement of the animation issues. Yeah, MirrorPurple. You & me both probably noticed that in Moe`s the animation always come to a slip around the deeper sections of the series. Hey, that`s awesome for noting the SHAFT elements in the production. Real cool! Good job, MirrorPurple.

Thanks for the review, MirrorPurple. Short & sweet. Real cute show “A-Channel”.
Continue your efforts on your blog!

  4. A Channel the platinum standard of anime for me. Even for a 2011 anime, the animation is pretty much outstanding. Everything else is very excellent if not better. I am truly impressed by how they handle everything to built a slice of live anime based on 4-coma manga.
