Similar but Different: Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru (Oreshura) and Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin

Good afternoon~ Finally found something to write about, and then COMBINE~~~

How are they similar?

  • Same director (Kamei Kanta)
  • Same studio (A-1 Pictures)
  • Both are 1cours
  • Both have Romance, Comedy, Slice of Life in their genre list

Oreshura

Originated from a LN, 9volumes and still ongoing. Anime lasted for just 13eps, but it was that close to living hell… This totally felt like a meaningless time waster

Storyline felt nice at the beginning, i was expecting a lot because of its theme of combining girlfriend and childhood friend into the mix, felt pretty unique. But it slowly feel pointless and start to derail from the original plot, then go to normal generic harem plus slice of life. Then the additional characters just comes out of nowhere and cause a massive mess, confusing a lot of things and raised a lot more questions that the anime couldnt answer. Then the ending just goes nowhere, like really, nowhere. Omg, lucky it was only 13 eps… This totally didnt need a new season as they pretty much butchered it.

Art is done by A-1, kinda surprised, because A-1 actually put in effort for such things. Color felt pretty light but it doesnt feel like it lacks intensity. Since the LN’s artwork was light since the beginning, so its kinda normal for them to follow. In fact i love the art of this anime, it feel pretty…nice and boosts it lightheartedness.

Music is a mixed bag, felt nice in the beginning, then it feels bland then back to neutral… They expire quite quickly tbh. BGMs were ok too.

VAs is a pretty nice list tho. Osaka Ryota, Tamura Yukarin, Akasaki Chinatsu, Kanemoto Hisako, Kayano Ai, Nazuka Kaori, Taneda Risa, Toyama Nao. IMO, the drama CD casts are a bit better, with Majima Junji, Toyosaki Aki and Saito Chiwa, they can be quite a better mix. But still the anime cast did an excellent job.

Besto gurl? None, all of them are such turn offs…

Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin

This is the better one of the pair and one of the most wasted one also. This in fact had a lot more potential.

Originated from an LN also, 7volumes and still ongoing. Anime was a lot shorter, just 11 eps, very short.

The story felt normal at first, then BOOM, *put that escalated quickly pic here*. It accelerated a lot but it doesnt feel rushed, every ep felt full to the brim, you will never feel bored at any ep, there is always something happening each ep, and its good. I wouldnt say its actionpacked everytime, but at least you wont feel dry. The ending will definitely leave you hanging because there is a lot more treasures to find and they only found like a few, kind of a signal for you to real the novel.

Art is again by A-1, pretty decent, a different approach to what Oreshura had, but it felt nice, vivid and sharp. Nothing much to write about, but i hope A-1 can keep their quality consistent. 3DCG was ok, looks pretty nice too.

Music is pretty ok, it also expires but not as quick as Oreshura. BGMs was nice, it brings a lot of emotion during combat scenes and during scenes where they have to crack the trap, like woah, nice.

VAs is a long list of mixture. Ono Yuki, Tanabe Rui, Asumi Kana, HanaKana, Suzuki Eri, Kawasumi Ayako, Okitsu Kazuyuki, Sugita Tomokazu, Koyama Rikiya, Noto Mamiko, Uchiyama Yumi, Toriumi Kosuke, Sakurai Harumi, Hosoya Yoshimasa, Kuno Misaki, Ito Kanae. All of them did a good job overall. Love the voices. HanaKana as a trap again, not surprised, but legitly enjoyed it.

Besto gurl? More like best trap to me.

Score:
